Vu1 Lightfair 2012: Day 3

May 11, 2012

Lightfair 2012, from our perspective here at Vu1, far exceeded our expectations in terms of serving as a launch for our product. We are definitely “on the radar” now of potential distributors, customers, scientists, government officials – and our competition in the incandescent replacement industry.

Visitors to our booth today included a horde of international interests from Germany, Spain, Peru, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Canada, Japan – and the list goes on. We also held detailed conversations with energy-efficiency groups who are interested in promoting our product in their education and green job programs.

We always believed that we offer a superior product that is a hands-down winner in terms of light quality and energy-efficiency against LEDs, CFLs and other incandescent replacements. This show simply cemented it for us and for the hundreds of visitors to our booth at Lightfair. We look forward to our Summer 2012 on-sale launch at Lowes and for providing “Light Without Compromise” to the many folks ready to switch to the Vu1 ESL.

Vu1 – Lightfair 2012: Day 2

Vu1 Updated Blog
May 11, 2012

Day 2 at Lightfair 2012 in Las Vegas seemed to underscore how different, unique and groundbreaking the Vu1 ESL is among its brethren at the trade show. Booth traffic – and word of mouth — seemed to grow to a crescendo, as more visitors today approached us and told us that they were informed they “had to see the Vu1 booth.”

Vu1 received mentions in two break-out sessions – one titled “What’s New in Lamps and Ballasts,” and another billed as “A Guided Tour of SSL Area Light Sources – Past, Present and Future.”

We again were impressed to learn of new potential markets for the Vu1 ESL that we hadn’t previously anticipated. We enjoyed a detailed conversation with representatives from Cal State Fullerton, which ended with an expression of interest in a pilot program for their dormitories. It turns out that CFL bulbs, due to safety issues, are not favored in the dorms, and LED bulbs, due to their high cost, have been met with a high rate of pilferage. Vu1 may indeed be just the right solution to their desire to be more energy-efficient. We also chatted with a representative from JetBlue, who said he could envision the Vu1 ESL providing lighting at its ground-based facilities.

Interest from utilities was plentiful, particularly as it related to potential “direct-install” programs; and we also received interest from a multitude of “escos”, or energy service companies. Distributors, members of the media and interested competitors comprised the balance of our visitors on Day 2.

We wrap up a very successful Lightfair 2012 tomorrow, and look forward to sharing our experiences on what is sure to be an exciting final day.

Thank you,

Vu1 Corp & ESLR30 – Lightfair 2012

Vu1 Blog Entery – May 10, 2012

LightFair 2012 Day 1 WrapupThe Vu1 team wrapped up an exhilarating first day at Lightfair 2012 – the world’s largest lighting trade show – in Las Vegas. Visits to our booth were non-stop, with interest expressed from all facets of the lighting business – distributors, media representatives, rebate companies, scientists, students – even a representative from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) spent time learning about our proprietary ESL technology. In fact, we learned that interest in – and prospective purchasers of — the Vu1 ESL bulbs may come from avenues that we hadn’t anticipated.

The day began on a high-note, as Vu1 was recognized as one of a handful of nominees for the Lightfair International Innovation Awards in the conventional light replacement category. It’s a pretty heady achievement for Vu1, in a category dominated by larger companies, and almost entirely by LED manufacturers.

In fact, Vu1 offers a notable counterpoint at Lightfair this year, with more than half of the exhibitors displaying some form of LED lighting solution. We repeatedly answered the question of “what exactly is ESL anyway?” and were met with almost universal acceptance for our technology, attributes and price point.

We look forward to reporting to you after Days 2 and 3 of the show. Thank you for your continued interest in Vu1.

Thank you,
Scott Blackstone
